thank you mr.elk

.no picutres, just good memories.

we had a great long weekend spent partly in snowflake, partly at deer camp. the cool weather was refreshing. i got to see my two cute little red heads, i would claim them as my own if anyone would believe me.

i spent a good hour trying to hold in my belly laughter, you know the kind where you instantly get a belly ache because you are laughing so hard...

we were all stitting around the fire when the elk started to bugle. we decided to head out and listen to the amazing animals trying to find eachother in the darkness. we sat in silence for a while, then decided to call one our way. we were all a little rusty, its been a while, and we didnt have any fancy calls with us. josh soon found that he could make a funny sound (that sounded nothing like an elk, thus the laughter) that fooled an elk into coming our way. after half an hour of joshs "call" we could hear mr. elk walking through the woods. im sure he caught our scent when he finally let out a "bark" and was on his way. this is when the real fun began. tim gave it a try, and for his first time he wasnt bad at all... i swear i used to be money, unfortinaly it has been WAY to long, and im SURE mr. elk went running when i really tired my best to be the best. it was a bust to say the least.  i can honestly say i was glad my grandpa hatch wasnt there, i wouldnt want to let him down. my dad immitated an elk rubbing his horns on a tree, we all sat on a fallen tree and laughed and enjoyed our time. i love spending times like these with my family, when we can all be ourselves, and have a good laugh at eachother.

the woods are kind of a special place to my family. we have spent much time in them, mostly with our grandpa hatch. he was at home out there, he knew them like the back of his hand. i think we all feel a little closer to him while we are out there, we sure do miss him and cant wait to see him again.
