Mauer Rand

the stroy of my sweet mauer
i had been dilated to a 4 for 2 weeks and was doing everything i could to put myself in labor. i walked, gardened, bounced, anything anyone suggested i tried. finally, at 39 weeks and 2 days my dr. asked if i wanted to be induced. i was initially against being induced, i figured mauer would come when he was ready, i guess he is much more patient than i am. dr. said i could go in that night if i wanted, i said yes! so we set the time for 10pm. we spent the rest of the day getting ready to go, we ate a yummy dinner at lindos (the best mexican food ever) and after tims football game we headed to the hospital. when we got to the hospital it took a while to get in a room and all ready to go. about 11.30 i was all hooked up and answering millions of questions. half way through the questions, the nurse looked at me and asked if i could feel anything. i told her i didnt feel a thing, she laughed and said ever since she hooked me up to the contraction monitor i had been having contractions every 3-5 min. i was in labor without being officially induced. lucky for me i wasnt feeling any contractions, she said it was really uncommon but about 1% of women dont ever feel them. we finished up the questions and she hooked me up to the pit to see if it would help me feel the contractions. my momma and nikki came in the room and we just hung out for an hour or so. the nurse came back to check me and i had dilated to a 6 and was contracting every 3 min, but still wasnt feeling anything. she had asked if i was going to want an epidural, which i did, she wasnt to happy about that. all night she tried to talk me out of it, since i wasnt feeling any contractions she didnt think i should have one. ha, there was no chance i was going to go ah-natural. im a wuss! she said i couldnt have it until i felt the contractions and my water broke. she left and came back about an hour later to check me, this time she broke my water on accident and i felt a little cramping so i immediately told her it was time for the good stuff. i ended up having to have the epidural placed twice, and we were good to go. tim called his family to let them know it was time to head over. they all showed up and we hung out for a couple more hours while i progressed to a 10. finally, about 6.30 the nurse had me push twice then stopped me because mauers head was about to pop out and my dr. was in the next room delivering another baby. so, i laid on the bed with my legs spread and all my glory hanging out for 30 min. while the dr. finished up. lucky for me i had 12 people in my room to keep me busy while we waited (yes 12- tim, my momma, karen, lee, andrea, both nikkis, joey, 2 student nurses, my nurse, and the am nurse) as soon as dr. swainston came in he had me push through 2 contractions and mauer was here (after a little snip).
 3/13/2012, 7.20 am, weighing in at 7lb 2oz and 20.5 inches long.
my labor and delivery went great, my nurses were amazing and i got to experience my most life changing moment with all the people i love. i fell so blessed.

it might sound crazy to have a total of 14 people in the room, but i wouldnt have done it any other way. it was such an emotional and spiritual experience for everyone that was there. im positive there wasnt a dry eye in the room. i have never felt so emotional in my life, while in labor tim and i could hardly look at each other without crying. i didnt think i could love him anymore than i did, but somehow i felt closer and more in love with him than ever.
